University of North Florida – Osprey Commons

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The University of North Florida Osprey Commons is a new four-story, 26,000 SF dining facility. This new dining facility replaces the old cafeteria which was the oldest building on the UNF campus. This new structure is in line with the latest architectural trends on campus with plenty of glass while maintaining the requirements for USGBC LEED Silver Certification. Students, faculty and staff have a wonderful, picturesque view of UNF’s Candy Cane Lake.

STRUCTURAL DESIGN

The structural building frame is constructed of composite steel beams and steel columns bearing on spread foundations. The lateral force resisting system consists of composite steel deck and metal roof deck diaphragms which transfer lateral load to the concrete shearwalls acting as the vertical lateral load resisting system.
